N.E. Lakeview College Ribbon Cutting

Hello Everyone,

Northeast Lakeview College is having their ribbon cutting ceremony in a week and a half - Friday 11/14/08 at 2:00 pm. The Kruse family is invited. It sounds like they plan to acknowledge the family in some way. They've asked me for more insightful info about the early days in the area and have been in touch with the archaeologist that surveyed the land.

Should be worth attending.

Kruse Cookbook

I'm finishing up getting the Kruse Cookbook online. I just wanted to know if there were any recipe's in the book that needed to be fixed. If you know of any incorrect recipe's let me know by November 13th. After that I will post the cookbook the way it is.

Craig's Job

Hello everyone,
Just a little update on my job situation. I'm not trying to take the thunder away from Audry's promotion(which is really awesome by the way), but I finally have a new job. I'm working in the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Unfortunately, I can't get anybody discounts so don't ask. If you do ask I will completely ignore you and never talk to you again. That's a promise. Just kidding. Or am I?

Audry's Promotion

I am excited to tell everyone that I got a promotion! I will be the new Children's department manager at our Fort Worth location for Neiman Marcus. I am blessed to have this opportunity! It will be a big adjustment and challange so keep me in your prayers! I love you all!

Pray for Kayla

Kayla has had some knee pain for quite some time now. She has started physical therapy and trying to work it out as much as possible with electric stimulation, ice and stretching. She has patella tendonitis...............they think. If this doesn't work she might have a fracture in her growth plate. I"m sure she'll be fine but if ya'll could drop a quick prayer her way it'd be much appreciated. I hope everyone is well.

All Stars Are Over

All Stars is over for now. Derek had a tough game pitching and the defense wasn't doing to hot either. That was their first loss. The second loss the coach misunderstood something i said and took it out on Derek by sitting him out all but one inning of the game. It was terrible. They put two kids in who have pitched maybe once in their lives and they had 6 score off of them. Then he finally brought Derek in and nobody scored off of him. Then, he pulled Derek out and put his son in(wild pitcher) and they scored 4 off of him. Hmmmmmm? Logic you ask? Yeah me too. I'm still a lil' chapped about this...............can ya tell? My dad and i weren't the coolest people in the world. In fact we kinda lost all our cool points but hey..............it's not personal. They're just a name i can't say because you guys are family.............damn it!!!

District Champs!!!

The Styk's swept their second Tournament making them District Champions. Derek pitched a great game and hit a home run. Two more boys hit home runs as well and they all played great. Last inning they were behind 5-4 and their only hope was for the first two to get on base and the third to hit a home run and that's exactly what they did. The boy that hit the winning home run was so happy he was crying. The team met him at home plate and they were so excited!!! Next Tournament is in Castroville.

Derek's Next Game

Derek has a scrimmage against Converse at the Schertz Fields tomorrow night at 6:00.

Derek in All-Stars

The Styk's swept the 1st Tournament. Thursday and Friday they won 10 - 0 and Sunday they won 6 - 4. The next tournament begins June 25 and lasts through the 29th. I'll keep his game times updated as i get them.

LA VERNIA — Just days before receiving his high school diploma, recent La Vernia graduate Colton Kruse had another reason to celebrate. The talented athlete was busy signing his letter of intent to attend school and play baseball for Marion Military Institute (MMI) in Alabama.

After considering a number of schools, including Texas Lutheran University, Sam Houston State University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, Kruse eventually decided on MMI.

“It’s been a dream of mine to play baseball in college,” Kruse said. “MMI really came through for me.”

According to Kruse, the relationship with MMI began when the school’s recruiters were at a La Vernia baseball game, scouting a player from the other team. It was at that time they took notice of Kruse’s talent. They later approached Kruse and began discussing scholarship options.

“We’re excited to have Colton,” said MMI baseball Coach Jake Wells. “He’s a great player.”

La Vernia High School baseball Coach John Elder was also on hand for the signing. He praised Kruse as well, saying, “He is a good leader and has a strong work ethic.”

Kruse credited his team, coaches, and parents for helping him achieve his goals. When asked about any one game or moment from his senior season, Kruse said the whole season was a highlight. He said he would never forget the way his team and coaches all came together.

At this time, Kruse is uncertain what he will focus his major coursework on at school. He is also uncertain if attending a military academy will lead to a military career, but he isn’t ruling anything out at this time.

When asked how he felt about attending a military academy, Kruse simply said he was excited. He’s not worried about the extra demands a military school will put on him.

As for Kruse’s parents, they aren’t worried either. In fact, his mother, Teri, said she liked the fact that he’s going to a military school.

“Since he’s going so far away, I think it’s a good thing,” she said. “The added structure will help with the adjustment.

“He’s a good kid,” she added. “He’ll do great.”
